randy rhoads flying v guitar

As to the Polka dot flying V, I don’t think it’s necessary to say much about it, almost every fan of Rhoads knows it very well. The polka dot flying V is also known as Sandoval flying V and is most famous custom Randy Rhoads Flying V guitar with a lot of polka dots on it. Just as other great guitarists who always play a cool distinctive instrument, such as Clapton with psychedelic Fool guitar and George Lynch with the Skull N’ Bones, the Karl Sandoval Polka dot flying V is Randy Rhoads distinctive guitar, which was custom built with Randy Rhoads design by Karl Sandoval who is a famous guitar builder, working for Charvel’s Custom guitar shop in CA during the 70s. On July 3rd, 1979, Randy ordered the gutiar from Karl Sandoval, and discussed the design of headstock, the color, the bowtie inlay, the V body with polka dots with him. On Nov 22nd, 1979, the polka dot V guitar, a hybrid of a Fender and a Gibson, was completed and soon followed his master to Ozzy Osbourne band.

The Jackson Randy Rhoads Flying V is an iconic model of electric guitar, which is Rhoads’ first Jackson prototype, white, pinstriped, asymmetrical Flying V built by Grover Jackson, Tim Wilson, and Mike Shannon of Charvel Guitars. The Jackson V featured a maple neck and neck-through body with ebony fretboard of medium frets. This model was the first one of the Charvel works that was labeled with Jackson’s name. It’s said that the guitar was supposed to be called The Original SIN, but Randy Rhoads preferred to call it Concorde. After this Randy Rhoads Flying V guitar, Randy made some modification on the next model with Jackson because he thought the ‘Concorde’ was not outstanding enough from the common flying V. He decided to elongate the top horn so the body could bear more resemblance to a shark fin. The second Jackson Randy Rhoads Flying V flying V featured the modified body shape, black colored with a golden pickguard, and fixed tailpiece with strings anchored in the body. Today, Jackson owns more than 12 different Randy Rhoads models in production, including USA Select Series (RR1), Pro Series (RR3, RR5, RR5FR, RR24…), Pro Series Artist Signature, X series, JS series.
